I was an unchurched child growing up in VanZandt when I started attending Immanuel Lutheran Church. I was in Junior High at the time. I came because there was a children’s choir. I think I took the bus after school, but have no idea how I got home. An aside…I became an elementary music teacher! Once there I discovered the love of God not so much through SundaySchool, scriptures, or sermons, but through the love and acceptance of Pastor Bremer and those in the congregation. I don’t even remember the name of the couple who faithfully picked me up every Sunday to take me to church, I just know it left an impression on my life, for which I will be eternally grateful. I was baptized, confirmed and took my first communion as a sophomore in high school all the same day. Eight years later, after college, I was married at Immanuel.

Although I wasn’t able to attend LBI like I had hoped to do, my daughter did get to attend and graduate from PLU. What a wonder place for her to go to college.

I am now 3/4 of a century old. I am still leaning on the love of God. I have studied Scripture inside and out and forward and back. I am active at Pasco First Lutheran in the Tricities. I have served God in many ways in the last 60 years. Ways in which I never believed God would lead me. I have Immanuel Lutheran Church to thank for bringing me into the family of God.

Because of Covid-19 I have had the privilege of ‘attending’ other Lutheran churches…a blessing of COVID? I just ‘attended’ Immanuel to hear the sermon. It has been in times of trial that I have devoured the Psalms. What a blessing your sermon on Psalm 23 was to me, Pastor.

May God continue to bless Immanuel’s ministries.
