Music Ministry
Music has always had an important place in Immanuel’s worship services. Our congregation loves to sing familiar hymns and is always willing to learn a new one now and then. Nancy Workman is the most recent of the many gifted musicians who have led our music ministry.
The Rodgers Alexandria 145 organ, installed in 1975, has been played by Sylvia Eggen, Anne Valum, Ann Hedman, Diane Monsen and Susan (Eggen) Williams, who currently plays on special occasions.
The sanctuary’s Charles M. Stieff baby grand piano (from the 1910s) was gifted to the church on Easter 2018. Martha Sirguy preceded Nancy Workman as worship pianist.
Members and friends of Immanuel enhance our worship services in three music ensembles:
- Bell Choir, directed by Dr. Dan Mahraun
- Men’s Choir, directed by Dennis Workman
- Senior Choir, directed by Ben Workman Smith
Annually, we produce a Music Festival to raise funds for a local charity. Many talented musicians—both in our church and in the larger community—come together to share their gifts for each year’s worthy cause.
Everyone is always invited to join any of our musical groups or just to sit back and let the music speak to your heart.
