Cemetery
Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery is located east of State Highway 9, about 3/4 of a mile north of Nugents Corner. To reach the cemetery from I-5, take the Sunset Drive exit/Exit 255. Proceed east on Sunset Drive (it becomes Mt. Baker Hwy after about 2 miles) 9.9 miles to the Hwy 9 North junction at Lawrence Road. Turn left (north) on Lawrence Road and continue ¾ of a mile to the cemetery. The cemetery is on the right (east) side of the road.
IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH CEMETERY REGULATIONS
Adopted Update February 14, 2021
1. Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery is a private cemetery and graves shall henceforth be allowed for use by current members of the church and/or their immediate families (husband, wife, or unmarried children). An exception may be made if approval is requested, and granted, in writing by Pastor/Sexton/Immanuel Lutheran Church Council.
2. Prior to any burial, whether the grave has been arranged or not, the Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church will be contacted, or in their absence the President of the congregation. Only Lutheran Services will be presided over by the Immanuel Lutheran Church Pastor or a family member. An alternate Pastor may take part, at the discretion of the Immanuel Lutheran Church Pastor.
3. Each grave shall be prepared with a concrete liner, which shall be provided and installed by the gravedigger. Each urn burial shall be placed in an approved urn box.
4. The following gravesite fees will be paid to Immanuel Cemetery prior to burial for upkeep and maintenance costs:
Members, casket———————————-$300.00
Non-members, casket————————— $500.00
Members, urn ————————————- $300.00 (unless they agree to bury three urns per site ($100 each).
Non-member, urn ——————————– $500.00 (unless they agree to bury three urns per site ($150 each).
These fees are subject to change as needed.
5. Lots may not be purchased or reserved. Adjoining gravesite may be reserved for the deceased’s spouse if so desired. Location of the grave must be approved by the Sexton or appointed persons.
6. There shall be no planting of trees, shrubs, or flowers in the cemetery.
7. Markers shall be set in concrete with a border of at least a minimum of two inches allowed around the marker. Only the flat lawn type markers will be allowed. Markers for a single site shall be a maximum of 24″ by 12″ through 20″. Markers for two adjoining sites shall be 36″ through 44″ by 12″ through 20″. An authorized representative of the congregation must be present at the time of placing any marker.
